I wasn’t particularly fond of The 1975 at first. Don’t get me wrong, their sound was refreshing and they had some incredibly catchy songs on their debut album. But it just wasn’t completely my vibe.
But now that they’ve released “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it,” it’s opened up a ton of opportunities for them in the future. They’ve honed in on their unique sound and expanded on a form of nostalgia that gives them an edge over other bands.
It’s a strong effort – worthy enough for a seat on the countdown this year.
You obviously have to separate art from politics sometimes. That’s why Kanye’s on this countdown. He continues to put out great music. But it’s unfortunate that he also continues to put out bad vibes everywhere else.
The Life of Pablo is another great collection of tunes from a very artistic individual. Now he just needs to get his act together.
Topping the list in 2016 is a fantastic indie rock songwriter with a decent follow-up to his previous masterpiece. While it’s not as perfect of an album as prior, it still has all the qualities that fans have come to love from The Dear Hunter.
